Shawnna Childress

Executive Director and Co-Founder

Shawnna Childress is a Director at Navigant Consulting, Co-Author of the book eDiscovery Plain & Simple, and a licensed Private Investigator.  Ms. Childress has more than 15 years of experience in the legal and technology industries. At Navigant Consulting, Ms. Childress’ main area of expertise is in the area of Electronic Discovery, Litigation Readiness and Data Analysis with a focus on strategic consulting, identification, preservation, collection, extraction, review, and production of electronic records in support of all phases of litigations, investigations, and litigation preparedness initiatives.  Ms. Childress assists corporations and their counsel with leading teams that assist with their data and systems and the laws that regulate them to decrease the cost and risk associated with eDiscovery and Information Management.

Lana Schell

Executive Director and Co-Founder

Lana is currently the Director of Client Advisory Services for Merrill Corporation.  The JD that Lana holds propelled her to first gain legal experience working in the Office of General Counsel for the Pennsylvania State Police. She transitioned her skills into her role at two law firms in Philadelphia, where she was responsible for managing litigation support activity for several offices.

On the vendor side, Lana came first to Merrill Legal Solutions where her legal training helped her to quickly shine as an acknowledged best with proficiency in the e-discovery industry. In her capacity as Consultant, she succeeded in helping to determine the most beneficial solution from the start to project design, set up, implementation and execution. Lana implemented document management strategies for clients involved in complex litigation. She has directly managed and consulted on several complex, high profile, large scale litigation support efforts including HSRs and 2nd requests, as well as working on litigations for insurance companies, manufacturing and pharmaceutical corporations as well as construction companies.

These same skill sets were utilized in her role at LECG and iDiscovery Solutions at an even larger forum for General Counsel at fortune 500 companies and the top law firms around the country. More recently, Lana has been able to combine her diverse experience as an E-Discovery Consultant working with other service providers as well as corporations and law firms while at Clearwell Systems before returning to Merrill Corporation.

Margaret Havinga

Executive Director and Co-Founder

Margaret began working in the legal field at Williams & Connolly as a part-time employee while she was completing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the George Washington University. After receiving her degree, she assumed a full time position in the firm’s litigation support department. She has worked at Williams & Connolly’s for the past 18 years, serving in multiple positions including litigation support specialist and litigation support manager. In 2000, she became head of the litigation support department. Under her leadership the department has grown from three full-time staff into a much larger unit that has included project managers, trial specialists, project assistants and programmers. In addition to managing the firm’s litigation support department which is responsible for managing and consulting on ediscovery cases, Margaret serves on Williams & Connolly’s technology and ediscovery committees.
