The Impact of Emoji in Workplace Communications

Kick off 2022 with Women in eDiscovery’s Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter!

Synopsis:

The percentage of the connected population utilizing emoji in workplace communication has increased from 33% in 2016 to more than 77% today. More than 26 million custom emoji have been created in Slack and the use of emoji in Teams is universal, revolutionizing the way we communicate. Some employees have entire discussions with just emoji, and it only takes one emoji to change the meaning of a message. This session gives an overview of the challenges and risks associated with emoji in workplace communication and Information Governance and provides practical solutions for the problems emoji present.

Speaker: Eric Parish

Eric Parish is an Information Governance Professional and eDiscovery expert with more than 17-years’ experience in the legal vertical. He is an information governance consultant for Ricoh Legal helping organizations better manage, secure, and optimize data.

Prior to joining Ricoh, Eric was a practicing attorney in Minneapolis, MN. A Certified eDiscovery Specialist and IGP, He received his B.S. in Biology from Purdue University and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law.
